Mindmachine Art Gallery proudly presents the Grand Contemporary Summer Exhibition 2025 – a group show featuring four powerful contemporary artists, each offering their own distinct vision of human existence, perception, spirituality, and the world we inhabit.
SEBASTIAN HOLMBÄCK
Sebastian Holmbäck (b. 1971) is a visual artist, designer, and intuitive coach. His practice revolves around the exploration of consciousness and perception. For over 20 years, he has delved into deep meditative states, shamanic rituals, and extrasensory exploration to challenge Western paradigms and investigate the nature of existence. His primary medium consists of deep reliefs created from a unique clay-pigment mixture, in which he carves geometric symbols. His process is akin to an archaeological excavation, revealing a visual language that is both ancient and novel – forming a continuous dialogue between inner reflection and material form.
PER ELI
Per Eli is a self-taught painter and multidisciplinary artist working in a dynamic, metamorphic style inspired by the CoBrA movement. His paintings are explosive, color-rich universes filled with fantastic beings that emerge from his intuitive process. At once wild and deliberate, his works are shaped by a dialogue between artist and canvas. Vibrant diagonals and emotional collisions give the works a rhythm and tension, while the figures within dissolve and reform in ever-shifting compositions. Besides painting, Per Eli works with poetry, music, and sculpture – all feeding into a singular, living creative cosmos. Each piece invites conversation, both between artist and artwork, and between viewer and image.
JENS ULRICH PETERSEN
Jens Ulrich Petersen (b. 1947) paints quiet yet charged scenes where tiny human figures are isolated in near-monochrome spaces or empty interiors. These compositions reflect a profound concern with the individual's powerlessness within systems, and a deep philosophical investigation of perception – influenced by thinkers like Peter Singer, Kafka, and Hesse. His paintings, though rendered in traditional materials and techniques, carry an existential weight. The ambiguity of space, the disconnection between figures, and the delicate balance of color and form result in works that provoke reflection and evoke a sense of modern alienation.
EMIL TONNE STAAL
Emil Tonne Staal, founder of Mindmachine Art Gallery, is a multidisciplinary artist born in Elsinore and based in Copenhagen. Originally a touring musician, Emil discovered painting and sculpture during a transformative period in Spain. His work is deeply inspired by intercultural dialogue, spiritual traditions, and human interaction with nature and animals. Drawing from shamanic practices and esoteric knowledge gathered during extensive travels – most recently a four-month journey through Mexico with exhibitions at galleries and the Parliament building in Veracruz – Emil creates expressive, symbolic, and often mystical works. His artistic range spans music, poetry, performance, installation, sculpture, and painting. In 2021, he launched the Mindmachine project, merging music, visual art, and spiritual inquiry into a holistic, exploratory experience.
