We will work with:

• Color theory: we take as a starting point Apelles’ 4-color palette, where you’ll gain deeper insight into how colors work together, are used in practice, and how they affect each other.
• Composition and image structure – how to create balance and depth in your works.
• Light and contrast – introduction to working with light, shadow, and mood.
• Techniques: you’ll get insight into various painting techniques you can play with and try out during the course.

With space for a maximum of 15 participants, there is focus on both individual guidance and a creative, welcoming community.

👨‍🎨 About the instructor

The course is led by visual artist Emil Tonne Staal, founder of Mindmachine Atelier & Art Gallery.
Emil has over 20 years of experience as a professional artist and teacher, and has exhibited internationally, including in Mexico, Spain, and Italy.
He studied under the Mexican master Alberto de Aragón Reyes and is now permanently affiliated with a major gallery in Mexico City.
Emil has a great passion for passing on technical knowledge combined with freedom and personal creativity, and is a certified adult educator and neurological art therapist.
