The 20-year-old artist Aria Omar debuts with his first solo exhibition, CONTROL ME. The exhibition is rooted in Aria’s personal journey toward defining himself — navigating expectations, culture, faith, and the desire for freedom.

As the eldest son in a religious Iraqi-Kurdish family, Aria has experienced significant pressure to live up to traditions and norms that he could not personally identify with. Through art, he has found a space where he can explore and express the thoughts and emotions that have otherwise been subject to control or silence.

In CONTROL ME, the audience encounters works that balance between the captivating and the unsettling. Intense colors and organic forms draw the viewer in, while simultaneously raising questions about freedom, responsibility, identity, and self-control.

For Aria, art is not merely aesthetics — it is necessity, resistance, and self-discovery.
